OPEN LECTURE – EU’S SOFT POWER IN LIGHT OF NEW NO-ENLARGEMENT POLICY – EP ROLE IN SCRUTINIZING REFORMS ASSESED BY EC (PROGRESS REPORTS AND VISA PROCESS)
European Integration School, a joint project between Kosovar Civil Society Foundation and Kosovo Foundation for Open Society, organizes the open lecture “EU’s soft power in light of new no-enlargement policy – EP role in scrutinizing reforms assesed by EC (Progress Reports and Visa process)” with former members of the European Parliament, Karin Junker and Gisela Kallenbach.
KARIN JUNKER is a former member of the European Parliament 1989-2004 and current member of the Former Members Association. Journalist and author. Vice President of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly ACP/EU 1994 – 2004.
Policy priorities: Media policy, development policy, cultural policy, external economic relations, gender equality. Member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 1964. Member of the SPD Executive Bureau 1988 – 2005. Chair of the SPD women’s organisation 1992 – 2004. Present functions include: Member of the Rundfunkrat (Broadcaster Council) of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), Cologne, also Chairwomen of the Program Committee Member of the Program Advisory Board ARTE G.E.I.E., Strasbourg. Member of the Executive Bureau of the Women’s Standing Committee of the Party of European Socialists (PES), Member of the SPD Media Committee and Member of the European Policy Committee of SPD.
GISELA KALLENBACH is a former member of the European Parliament 2004-2009 and current member of the Former Members Association. Between 2009-2014 a Member of Parliament, Free State Saxony (Alliance90/The Greens) Spokesperson for European affairs, environmental and urban development. From 2000 – 2003, UNMIK Municipal Administrator at Peja. Between 2004 – 2009 was a: Member of the European Parliament, GREENS/EFA-Group, Member of Committee on Regional Development, Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (Substitute), Committee on
Foreign Affairs (Substitute), Delegation for Relations with the countries of South-East Europe, Member and Delegation for Relations with India. Between 2003-2004 she was a personal advisor to the Commissioner for Environmental protection, Leipzig. Between 1969 – 1990 Member and Head of Research Groups concerned with Water and WasteWater Quality and Restoration of Pipe Lines.
